Did you know...?
World Vision Australia supports over 300,000 children around the world through its sponsorship program.
World Vision (www.worldvision.org.au) believes that the world has the knowledge, skills and resources to eradicate poverty. Empowering the poor, and encouraging governments and people to support them, will help achieve this goal. Their assistance is extended to people in need, without discriminating on religious, political, social, cultural, age or gender grounds.
Following the devastating Asian tsunami in December 2004, rather than simply write a cheque or send products, Pacific Brands partnered with World Vision Australia to assist in the rebuilding in Indonesia (Pacific Brands has a factory, PT Berlei, in Indonesia). This led to our commitment to a three year sponsorship of three Indonesian World Vision staff in Aceh. We are now in the third year of our partnership.
This sponsorship has assisted and supported World Vision in its rebuilding efforts in Aceh, and has contributed to the region’s long term sustainability through the provision of employment, skills training, and support for displaced people.
