Lifeline

Did you know...?

Through Pilotlight we are partnering a number of organisations to make a difference in our communities

In particular, we are building a partnership with Lifeline. Lifeline (www.lifeline.org.au) is a grass roots not-for profit organisation working in a practical way with disadvantaged local communities.

Over the last year, we have helped a number of Lifeline regional offices to support local communities. Mt Gambier, five hours south of Adelaide, is a community devastated by drought, high unemployment, and low wages. Lifeline’s Mt Gambier Op. Shop has a large warehouse out of town that enables them to keep furniture and whitegoods. However many of their volunteers were having to walk the 6kms to and from the warehouse each day to help. When they told us that transport was such a problem, we immediately responded with 20 bicycles which are now being used to get the volunteers to and from work.

You would all be familiar with the Lifeline clothing bins - we discovered that only 8% of donations from the collection bins were considered useable! As a result, we have recently donated $100,000 worth of product to Lifeline Narellan (NSW) and Morwell (VIC), to enable them to continue to provide services to the most vulnerable, and disadvantaged people in these regions.
